In the year 2012, it is expected that more than ever, people with felony convictions will start their own small businesses.  With the economy continuing to struggle in rebound, more and more convicted felons are having trouble finding work, ultimately leading to the need to pursue self employment opportunities.  If you have a felony conviction, and if you are consider a small business venture, it will be important to consider how you will fund that business.

Much like students who attend school after a felony conviction, financial aid can be obtained for your business.  Minority scholarships resources for students also open up opportunities for minority small business grants for felons who are starting a business in a similar career choice.  For example, if you have a passion for landscaping and gardening, you may want to find a scholarship for school that is designed to help you learn more about horticulture.  But, if you want to start your own landscape business, then the private companies that provide scholarships for students may also provide grants for felons as well.

When looking for grants this year, as you start your own business ventures, always think outside the box and look for grants in places where scholarships are also provided.  In doing so, you’ll have far greater opportunities to pursue your small business and with little out of pocket expense to you.  In addition, you’ll have grants that will not have to be re-paid which further promotes your business stability and helps you get your feet planted while other people are struggling to find work.  Never give up and never let your felony conviction hold back your dreams for business ownership.
